There has been a major H5N1 avian flu outbreak in the UK recently. I’m sure even non-chicken keepers have heard of H5N1 in the past (I know I have, even back in Malaysia. H5N1 is highly contagious, and although there is a low risk transmission to humans, half a million birds have been culled at present as it can cause severe pneumonia. Basically it’s like COVID 2.0 (but this isn’t the first H5N1 outbreak).
To protect our chickens (and ourselves), we have to place them in a covered run (aka massive cage). Yes, very unfortunately they cannot enjoy the freedom they are very used to. It seems to happen every winter anyway; when the birds are migrating. We basically need to avoid our little chicks from getting in touch with any infected birds’ poo and saliva. Most of the carrier of H5N1 are actually wild birds; and I’m sure you know that birds poo like rain! Even when they are flying!!
I do apologise for the lack of updates as I am just so busy making wreaths for Christmas!!! I’m so honoured that so many people appreciate my wreaths. They keep me busy. I didn’t earn much from it actually since I have been selling them cheap, but the profit isn’t bad at all. Of course it doesn’t earn as much as my regular job, but as a mother with a newborn on maternity leave, this really helps!
How could I leave little Tuesday and go to work?!?!
My weight loss journey has however been on a bit of a pause as advised by my physiotherapist. Although my diastasis pubic symphasis has well improved, my diastasis recti hasn’t. And none of my core muscles were strong enough to carry my weight! Previously I was running to help myself recover and lose weight; but apparently it was worsening my condition! In order to run efficiently, you need an a stable core muscle. No wonder I constantly felt like I was falling forward when running! Not only that, I had a waddling gait (a gait disorder is how you know something is definitely wrong with your body) as I was unable to flex my hip sufficiently to walk. Fortunately with the exercises planned by my physiotherapist, I am now on my road to recovery.
On January, I will have my 4th appointment with my physiotherapist to determine if my core muscles are now strong enough to carry out exercises such as running.
I CAN’T WAIT TO WALL CLIMB AGAIN WITH MOJOJOJO!!!!
Just when I’m recovering and the Covid is improving, God decides to punish us with omnicron COVID T____T The wall climbing centre will most likely shut down again if the omnicron variant gets widespread. But don’t forget about avian flu outbreak too, there might be a pandemic of H5N1 in humans if everybody don’t keep their birds safe!!!
So KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCING,
WASH YOUR HANDS
WEAR YOUR MASK
You don’t have to isolate yourself but if you’re unwell, don’t meet people, and let people know!
